Pennsylvania State Troopers injured, suspect dead in Franklin County after chase

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- Two Pennsylvania State Troopers are hospitalized after being shot Wednesday in Antrim Township, Franklin County.

Troopers were responding to a call after 6 p.m. on Wednesday for retail theft at a Dick’s Sporting Goods in Guilford Township when three suspects fled the scene toward Interstate 81, Pennsylvania State Police said in a statement. Troopers located the vehicle, and a pursuit ensued.

28/22 News visits transitional home for veterans

KUNKLETOWN, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News is getting a first full look at an area resource for homeless veterans. Valor Clinic Foundation invited 28/22 News for a tour of what they call Paul's House on Wednesday.

It's a transitional home in Kunkletown designed to give veterans without a home a way to get help with mental health, access to food, and a chance to get back on their feet.

This comes before an open house this weekend that will give people a chance to see the living spaces there for themselves, after only ever being able to see the main common room.

Governor Shapiro announces $6M investment in Lackawanna County

MAYFIELD, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The property of an abandoned coal mine in Lackawanna County will soon be transformed into an economic opportunity. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro announced a $39 million investment into 11 sites across the commonwealth on Wednesday.

Six million dollars of the $39,000,000 will be used to build a brand-new manufacturing and logistics center in Mayfield.

PA voting system sends 31 voters duplicate ballots

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania voting systems are under the microscope again, this time for sending a group of voters duplicate mail-in ballots. 31 voters in Luzerne County received duplicate mail-in ballots ahead of this year's municipal election.

The ballots, coming from the commonwealth's statewide uniform registry of electors, also known as the Secretary of State's office, not the county's Bureau of Elections.

The database manages voter records in Pennsylvania's 67 counties.
