Hazleton apartment building condemned after fire

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An investigation is underway after an early morning fire in Hazleton. Fire crews were called at around 4:00 a.m. to an apartment building on North Church Street.

There appears to be damage to the upper floors and roof of the home.

The building is now condemned.

Crash backing up traffic on I-380

The fire chief says five people who lived here were able to get out safely and are now being helped by the Red Cross.

One firefighter was injured but is expected to be okay.

A fire marshal is now investigating.

McDade Park pool closed due to leak

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Summer fun is put on pause at a popular swim spot in Scranton.

Opening day for the McDade Park swimming pool has been delayed due to leaks.

This is not the first time the pool's opening was delayed due to a leak. It also happened last year.

Weather Alert: Strong storms expected to push through NEPA Thursday

Rather than attempt to fix the new leaks gradually, the county will look at contractor bids for the repairs.

A new opening date has not been announced.

Lane restriction lifted after crash on I-380

COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Wednesday afternoon crash backed up traffic along Interstate 380 (I-380) in Monroe County.

The Monroe County Communications Center stated that a crash occurred Wednesday afternoon on I-380 Southbound near mile marker 6.

Officials confirmed there are injuries, but the severity and number of injuries are unknown.
