Woman ejected, dies after crash with truck

VALLEY TWP., MONTOUR COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police report a crash on I-80 killed a woman after she was ejected from a car during a collision with a truck.

On February 6 state police were called to a crash involving two vehicles on Interstate 80 at mile marker 225 in Valley Township, Montour County.

Police say a car, driver by Marlene Butters, 58, from Bloomsburg, led the westbound lane for an unknown reason, traveled across the median, and entered the eastbound lane.

Man charged with possession and production of child porn

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Scranton man has been charged with the production and possession of child pornography.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Anthony Clyde Hoffman, 29, was in possession of over 800 unique images and videos of child exploitation material in November of 2024.

After agents reviewed those images and videos, it revealed that Hoffman allegedly produced child exploitation images of a toddler using his cell phone in May of 2024.

ULSTER TWP., BRADFORD COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police say a search for missing teens led to a man's arrest after he allegedly met with them for "sexual activity."

On October 23, troopers said they were contacted to search for two 14-year-old girls reported missing in Bradford County.

Police say the investigation led them to the missing girls who were with 19-year-old Blake Manning from Laceyville in Ulster Township.

Truck crash shuts down interstate

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT reports a multi-tractor-trailer crash had closed a section of Interstate 80 in Luzerne County.

PennDOT states that I-80 westbound was closed at Exit 256 (Conyngham/Nescopeck) with a detour on Route 93 to Route 339 in Luzerne County.

Road restrictions across Pa. for latest winter storm

The closure was due to a multi-tractor-trailer crash. The roadway has since reopened.

New NASA imagery shows a large asteroid could impact Earth in 2032

(KTLA) – A recently released animation shows a new look at a large asteroid that has a small but significant chance of impacting planet Earth in seven years.

The animation, provided by the NASA-funded Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS), shows the path of a 130- to 300-foot-wide asteroid — named 2024 YR4 — having a more than 1% chance of hitting Earth on Dec. 22, 2032.

“ Currently, no other known large asteroids have an impact probability above 1%,” said NASA in a release.
