West Pittston Library hosts 'Soup-er Bowl' Party

WEST PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Scoring a touchdown against hunger: The West Pittston Library hosted a "Soup-er Bowl" Party collecting non-perishable food items to help tackle hunger in our area.

Supporting local food pantries in need, children in attendance had the opportunity to make different football-themed arts and crafts while learning about the Big Game.

Some children wore their favorite sports gear, while others were undecided on which team they would be rooting for.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Nurses in our area are calling for change. Joined by hundreds, they rallied Wednesday afternoon in Wilkes-Barre while their contract remains in limbo.

Geisinger Wyoming Valley nurses say they will do whatever it takes to better improvements in the nursing workforce. That even means rallying out in freezing temperatures.

In Wednesday's cold temperatures, Geisinger Wyoming Valley Registered Nurses turned up the heat on Wilkes-Barre's Public Square Wednesday.

How truck drivers are handling winter weather road restrictions

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has issued a number of travel restrictions statewide, many are already in effect.

Traffic was moving fine on Interstate 81 in Pittston Township, but the restrictions will be affecting drivers statewide.

Earlier Wednesday, 28/22 News stopped by a couple of truck stops in Luzerne County to see how truck drivers are handling the limits on the road.
