Luzerne County residents voice concerns over power line project

SUGARLOAF TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A proposed PPL power line project near Hazleton, Luzerne County, has many residents fired up.

Many of them reached out to the I-Team, saying they have received little to no information about the project, which they say will destroy their quality of life.

"I would like PPL to respect the valley and respect the people of this valley," said Sugarloaf Township resident John Zola.

Zola makes that appeal to PPL Electric Utilities as a proposed power line project in the Sugarloaf-Conyngham Valley area moves forward.

Crystal meth, cash seized in drug bust

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A drug investigation in south Wilkes-Barre by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office resulted in the seizure of large amounts of drugs and cash, according to court documents.

Agents with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office said on April 4, after a months-long drug investigation, they arrested Harry George Vega, 35, of Wilkes-Barre, while serving a search warrant at his Marjorie Avenue home.

The local Alice in Wonderland-themed distillery and restaurant is taking part in the Pocono Mountains restaurant week running through Friday.

Man assaulted with microwave during burglary

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was taken to the hospital after police say he reported being struck with a microwave during a burglary in Wilkes-Barre.

Wilkes-Barre City Police say they responded to a report of an assault at a residence on West Market Street Saturday around 9:30 p.m.
