Man pleads guilty to multiple arsons across NEPA

(WBRE/WYOU) — A man has pleaded guilty to multiple arsons in Wayne and Lackawanna counties.

Michawl Angelo Yzkanin has pleaded guilty to two cases of arson in Wayne County and one case in Lackawanna County.

Yzkanin allegedly set fire to multiple buildings in the area in 2023, including one in Jessup Borough and one at the Gouldsboro Inn.

Labor Department suspends Job Corps centers operations, drawing bipartisan pushback

The Department of Labor (DOL) announced this week it will pause operations at Job Corps centers nationwide, a move that has already gotten pushback from both sides of the aisle on Capitol Hill.

The department said Thursday it will begin a “phased pause” initiating “an orderly transition for students, staff, and local communities.” The pause will occur by June 30, the office said.

U.S. Marshals offer reward for Sunbury homicide suspect

SUNBURY, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) is seeking the public's assistance in locating the suspect in a Sunbury homicide that occurred at the courthouse and is offering a $2,500 reward.

26-year-old Denarii Springs has a warrant for homicide and other related charges for his alleged involvement in a shooting at the courthouse in Sunbury.

Two other men, Naseir Robinson and Carnel Shelbourne Jr., have both pleaded guilty in relation to the shooting for terroristic threats and false reports.
