Experts give tips to combat election related stress

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Politics take up a lot of oxygen in our lives, including a steady stream of ads on TV and text messages on our phones.

Anxiety, stress, and burnout are nothing new, but when you add on the pressures and partisanship of a presidential election, psychologists tell 28/22 News it can really start to weigh on people day to day.

No matter where you are or which screen you're looking at the onslaught of political texts and advertisements seems ever-present.

"They're everywhere. They don't stop," said Scranton resident Angel Brock.

Governor Tim Walz brings campaign to Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Governor Tim Walz will hold a campaign rally in Scranton on Friday, October 25.

According to officials, on Friday, October 25 Governor Walz will hold a special Friday Night Lights Rally in Scranton ahead of the November 5 election.

8th Congressional District candidates discuss issues

This event will take place in the evening between 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. The final event time and location will only be announced to confirmed guests.

15-year-old reported missing in Kingston

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A 15-year-old girl last heard from on Sunday has been reported missing in Kingston.

The Kingston Municipal Police Department is searching for 15-year-old Nadaleena Sharp. Police say officers and her family are unable to locate her.

The last time anyone had contact with Sharp was on Sunday, October 20. Sharp is described as 5'0'', 200 lbs with brown eyes, and black hair with blue highlights and bangs.

Luzerne County contractor accused of $6,000 home improvement fraud

PLYMOUTH TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police report a contractor scammed a man out of over $6,000 during a home improvement fraud scheme in Luzerne County.

In September, Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into a home improvement fraud in Plymouth Township.

Police say 41-year-old Joshua Muller of Kingston, owner and CEO of A-Team Construction signed a contract and cashed a check for $6,140 from the victim.

Matt Cartwright, Rob Bresnahan speak ahead of election

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — It's one of the most closely watched races in the country: The congressional seat in the eighth district of Pennsylvania. Incumbent Democrat Matt Cartwright from Lackawanna County is facing off with Republican challenger from Luzerne County Rob Bresnahan.

Political analysts say the winner of this race could help shape the majority in the house.
