Man pleads guilty to impersonation charges in Lehman Township

LEHMAN TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The man charged with impersonating a police officer in Lehman Township pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

Officials say Paul Dolan pled guilty Monday to receiving stolen property and impersonating a public servant in December 2023.

Two arrested, retail theft leads to police pursuit

Officials say he would pretend to respond to calls and was found to have stolen police gear in his possession.

He was arrested last December.

His sentencing is set for December 12.

Keystone Mission preparing for upcoming winter in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — When the winter temps hit NEPA, a non-profit that helps people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity wants to be ready.

Winter weather is just around the corner and the team from Keystone Mission says they're gearing up for guests at their Wilkes-Barre and Scranton shelters.

"Right now, we have already started rolling out our Code Blue Shelter. That's our collaboration with the City of Scranton," said Keystone Mission Program Director Lasha Wyman-Klein.

Cartwright, Bresnahan take to debate stage in Wilkes-Barre

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Incumbent Matt Cartwright took to the debate stage to battle his opponent Republican challenger Rob Bresnanan in the 8th Congressional District.

WVIA hosted the debate at King's College in Wilkes-Barre.

Both were asked questions Tuesday night about what they would do in office if elected for the 8th District, which includes Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre, and Scranton.

Both candidates spoke about their concern for the state's ongoing economic crisis and border policy.

Annual Friends Helping Friends event benefits non-profits

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Boscov's is holding its annual Friends Helping Friends event to benefit local non-profit organizations.

51 different organizations are participating, selling $5 25% off coupons throughout the year.

17 of those organizations are in-store on Tuesday, selling coupons to last-minute shoppers.

The coupons are only valid during business hours on Tuesday but are redeemable both in-store and online.
