PEMA outage affecting centers statewide

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) says they are actively troubleshooting the 9-1-1 system to find the cause of the issue.

28/22's Avery Nape has the latest with what we know so far about the outages.

PEMA emphasizes that the issues have been intermittent throughout the day but backup procedures are in place in the event of an emergency.

Around 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon, Delaware County's 9-1-1 center began experiencing outages with its 9-1-1 system.

MOUNT POCONO, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department is investigating an animal cruelty incident where someone allegedly dumped a dog in a dumpster.

Police say that around 10:00 a.m. on Friday, a white Hispanic or Caucasian male driving a Nissan Rogue pulled up to a dumpster at Mi Casa Restaurant was captured dumping a small animal crate containing a small, beige dog similar to a Chihuahua into the garbage dumpster.

Two arrested after stabbing in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Two people have been arrested in connection with a stabbing on Monday.

Scranton Police have arrested Bobbie Pinko and Jesus Matias Merrero, both of Scranton.

Police say that they responded to the 700 block of Capouse Avenue after a man was stabbed in the neck multiple times and was hospitalized in critical condition.

Both people were taken into custody on West Olive Street without any incident.
