SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Scranton Saint Patrick's Parade, or "Parade Day," kicked off Saturday, March 9, at 11:45 a.m. and those in attendance are celebrating one of the largest annual celebrations in Lackawanna County.

Woman accused of stealing nearly $270K worth of items from employer

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police have filed charges against a woman they say made nearly $270,000 by selling stolen dentistry items online.

On September 20, 2023, police say they received a call claiming an employee may have been involved in defrauding their business.

Three arrested, charged with theft after police chase

TAYLOR, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Three men have been arrested after police say they led officers on a high-speed chase when they were caught stealing catalytic converters.

According to the Taylor Police Department, officers responded to Roosevelt Street around 3:30 a.m., after three men were seen taking something from a woman's car.

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — State police announced there will be a Coroner's Inquest to determine the cause of death in a 53-year-old cold case in Luzerne County.

Investigators said 22-year-old Ilonka Cann last spoke to her parents on May 25, 1970. Cann was pregnant at the time of her disappearance and her husband reported her missing on May 27, 1970.
