LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — After months of debate about the dire state of Lackawanna County's finances, property owners bracing for a tax hike will finally get an idea this week of what that might amount to.

The county will release its preliminary 2025 budget on Tuesday afternoon.

The 2025 county budget is anticipated to have a tax hike. However, we will have to wait until the commissioners release it on Tuesday afternoon.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It's been just over a year since the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts was hit with devastating flooding from a water main break.

Renovations wrapped up just in time for the start of their 38th season.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Thousands of voters in Luzerne County will soon be receiving new mail-in ballots. This was after the name of one of the candidates in a State House Race was spelled incorrectly.

28/22 News first reported word of the problem last Friday, and on Monday, efforts are being ramped up to fix the problem.

This ballot error involves the race for the 119th State House seat, which includes the Nanticoke-Plymouth areas and parts of Mountain Top.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — A NASA spacecraft is ready to set sail for Jupiter and its moon Europa, one of the best bets for finding life beyond Earth.

Europa Clipper will peer beneath the moon’s icy crust where an ocean is thought to be sloshing fairly close to the surface. It won’t search for life, but rather determine whether conditions there could support it. Another mission would be needed to flush out any microorganisms lurking there.

The stove tops are hot cooking up meals at Ollie’s Restaurant in Edwardsville, but these aren’t being served at the restaurant.

They’re getting packed up to be delivered to children in need, all part of the non-profit, Dinners 4 Kids.

(WHTM) - On Tuesday, October 15 the candidates to become Pennsylvania's next Attorney General will appear for their first statewide debate.

Republican Dave Sunday and Democrat Eugene DePasquale met the qualifications to appear in the debate hosted by abc27 in Harrisburg. The one hour debate will begin at 7 p.m. and be moderated by Dennis Owens in the abc27 studio.
