Fake endorsement concerns in Lackawanna County

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — From your local election headquarters, a firefighters union is setting the record straight after former president Trump's rally in Scranton.

Officials with Local 60 say multiple citizens were seen with Scranton firefighters for Trump signs at Wednesday's rally when no member of the union was carrying since the national firefighters union chose not to endorse a candidate this election.

Officials went on to say that they honor and respect each and every person`s political opinions when it comes to both candidates

Babe Ruth Sultan of Swat Homerun Derby

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Baseball legend and slugger Babe Ruth was honored Saturday in Luzerne County with an inaugural event celebrating a homerun he hit right here in Wilkes-Barre.

On October 12th in 19-26, Babe Ruth played in a barnstorming game at Artillery Park in Wilkes-Barre hitting a ball an estimated 650 feet.

His homerun is considered the longest recorded homerun in baseball history and a plaque in Kirby Park marks where the ball landed.

Scranton marathon expo kicks off

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Before a beloved tradition steps off in Lackawanna County an expo was held to prepare racers on what to expect ahead of the annual Steamtown marathon.

At Scranton High School, thousands of runners and their families stopped by to pick up their packets filled with race information, like the route and start times.

For the past week, crews have been working on putting the finishing touches on the race route.

A presentation was also held today to give runners a better understanding of the event.

Sky diving for breast cancer in Hazleton

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — During Breast Cancer Awareness Month a local skydiving center wants to give cancer survivors and warriors more than just an opportunity to check an item off their bucket list.

Fearfully parachuting 10,000 feet from the sky over Hazleton Regional Airport Brandi Ellis was just happy to land safely on the ground.

"Like oh my gosh, I'm falling, I'm falling, I'm falling and then like you're okay," said Ellis.
