Car show honors man who died of cancer

OLYPHANT, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Lackawanna County man's legacy is alive and well on Sunday thanks to a car show turned tribute. Saint Cyril's Second Annual Car Show packed two lots with more than 100 classic and modern cars on Sunday.

The event on River Street in Olyphant served as a memorial for Gibby Carozzi, whose love of cars started the tradition.

The 71-year-old passed away in July after a short battle with cancer.

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Losing someone to suicide brings silence and pain for many families. A local mass held on Sunday is giving people a place to grieve and to heal.

At the Cathedral of Saint Peter, the mass for suicide healing and remembrance brought people together for the third year in a row.

The service offers prayer, comfort, and community for those who have lost loved ones to suicide.

Bagging food to fight hunger in the Poconos

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A supermarket in the Poconos is getting help from the community to help those fighting hunger. Shoprite of Stroudsburg held its Bag for Hunger Day on Saturday.

The event is part of its month-long Partners in Caring campaign. The hunger-fighting initiative supports more than 2,000 charities.

(NEXSTAR) — Tens of thousands of supporters gathered Sunday in Arizona to pay tribute to Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who was assassinated in Utah earlier this month.

Kirk, 31, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Sept. 10. A 22-year-old Utah resident is now facing charges in his death.
