PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center has a new service for veterans to utilize.
On Thursday, the VA's Connected Care Program unveiled its Virtual Health Resource Center.
The center is an in-person service where veterans, staff, family, and caregivers can learn about all of the VA's online programs and apps. The center will also offer tech support.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A project is underway in Wilkes-Barre that will help some unhoused men have a place to call home.
A place to call home before having this space, Mother Teresa's Haven Men's Shelter would move to a different church every month. Then during the COVID-19 pandemic, Saint Mary's Church housed the shelter for about four years.
Now, the Diocese of Scranton is renovating the space above the St. Vincent de Paul kitchen on East Jackson Street, giving the shelter a permanent home.
LARKSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Fire officials report a junkyard was on fire at a local scrapyard in Larksville Thursday.
Larksville Fire Department states they responded to a fire at Tabit & Sons Junkyard on Washington Avenue around 3:00 p.m.
Police activity on Wyoming St. in Wilkes-Barre
Larksville Fire Chief Petriga says seven to eight vehicles were on fire but luckily no one was injured.
As of 4:30 p.m., the fire was put out and crews were working on getting rid of the steam.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.

(NEXSTAR) — A severe solar storm impacting Earth could bring the northern lights to portions of the U.S. on Thursday.
Earlier this week, a massive solar flare was detected on the Sun, followed by a fast-moving coronal mass ejection (CME) directed toward Earth.
The flare sparked solar radiation storm conditions on Wednesday, posing a risk to satellites, communication signals and GPS systems. NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) also issued a severe geomagnetic storm watch for the CME.

(WHTM) – A recall has been issued for more than 2 million Fisher-Price infant swings after five deaths were reported.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), all models of the Fisher-Price Suga Swings are being recalled due to the possibility of suffocation.
The CPSC said five deaths involving infants 1 to 3 months old were reported between 2012 and 2022. The swings were being used for sleep, and in most of the instances, "the infants were unrestrained and bedding materials were added to the product."
