Rich Charneski: Almost 35 years of Consistency

(WBRE/WYOU)— May 28th, 1990 Rich Charneski walked through the WBRE doors for the first time, and nearly 35 years later, Rich leaves a lasting legacy on his final day at the station.

The end of an era in our sports department where Rich was the face behind the camera.

His talent, dedication, and passion for the teams and the athletes all over the area can not be matched.

Rich has established thousands of connections and anytime I'm out at games, somebody always asks about Rich, how he's doing, what game he's at.

Lower gas prices bringing record Memorial Day weekend travel

(WBRE/WYOU)— Memorial Day weekend is here, and its looking to be one of the busiest travel weekends on record.

28/22's Kathryn O'Leary has more with how people here in NEPA are getting to their holiday destinations.

While more people are hitting the road and taking to the skies this year, one thing that's making it a little easier for travelers? Lower gas prices.

According to AAA, more than 45 million Americans are expected to travel for Memorial Day weekend with a record 39 million hitting the road.

Celebrating 50 years of LCCC nursing amid shortage

PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Luzerne County Community College is marking 50 years of its high-ranking nursing program.

This comes as Pennsylvania faces a statewide shortage of the crucial caretakers.

State data shows an expected shortage of 20,000 nurses by 2026. More than 100 nurses from Luzerne County Community College's nursing program will soon enter the workforce and fill some of those roles.
