What to do if your child has bedbugs?

(WBRE/WYOU)— The discovery of bedbugs has one local school district taking precautions.

The Carbondale Area Superintendent confirms that two bedbugs were recently found in a classroom at the high school.

The principal there says students who were in the affected classroom moved and the room was closed off until a deep clean was done.

The superintendent says this is not considered to be an infestation and they are in compliance with the state health department.

DEP issues extension to Keystone Landfill for operation

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) issued an extension on the Keystone Sanitary Landfill's (KSL) operating permit on Friday.

According to the release, the DEP has issued a six month extension to the landfill's existing operating permit for its facility in Dunmore and Throop.

This renews the operating permit until October 6, 2025.
