Rock and Roll HOFer coming to Wilkes-Barre this summer

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— The city of Wilkes-Barre is not "Out of Touch" with their music taste.

The city is bringing Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Oates to Public Square this summer for the third annual free summer concert series.

Oates is half of the legendary duo "Hall and Oates" which churned out hit after hit in the 1970s and 80s including such smashes as "An American singer, guitarist, songwriter, and record producer, best known for his work in the pop-rock duo Hall & Oates with Daryl Hall."

Seven decades of memories and projects coming to an end

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A beloved hardware store will soon close its doors in Wilkes-Barre.

After 70 years, Walter's Hardware on Coal Street in Wilkes-Barre will close.

The closure comes after the death of 72-year-old owner Walter Letanski who unexpectedly passed away last December.

Expect a cool, soggy Memorial Day weekend

He along with his wife Karen, owned and operated Walter's Hardware.

She has now decided it is time to retire.

Man convicted of molesting a 10-year-old girl

ATHENS TOWNSHIP, BRADFORD COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man has been found guilty of molesting a 10-year-old girl in 2021.

A Bradford County jury convicted Dennis Vanderpool, 38, of Rome, PA, of all charges related to the sexual molestation of a 10-year-old girl in Athens Township in 2021.

Man shot in the stomach 3 times outside VFW

According to the Bradford County District Attorney, Vanderpool was entrusted to babysit the 10-year-old while the family went to attend to a family member in hospice care when the molestation happened.
