Stabbing in downtown Scranton under investigation

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they are investigating a stabbing that happened in downtown Scranton early Monday morning.

According to Scranton Police, they responded to a report of a stabbing on the 400 block of Penn Avenue around midnight Monday morning.

Police say they found a man injured at St. Francis Commons, and he was transported to the hospital.

According to police, they say initial reports indicate this was an isolated incident.

Police investigating stabbing in South Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are investigating a stabbing that happened Sunday night on Pittston Avenue in Scranton.

According to the Scranton Police Department, they responded to the 1800 block of Pittston Avenue around 9:50 p.m. to find a man with a stab wound to his groin.

Police say the man was transported to the hospital and was in critical, but not life-threatening, condition. They say the victim underwent surgery and is reportedly in stable condition.

Wyoming Valley Mall to reopen Tuesday

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Wyoming Valley Mall is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday.

According to a post on their Facebook page, power has been restored.

The mall closed almost two weeks ago after power was disrupted to the facility and has remained closed since.

The mall is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.

Found baby skulls part of 45-year-old Pennsylvania murder case, will be buried

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees held a news conference covering the details of skulls recently discovered, leading to baby bodies being exhumed.

The two baby skulls, which were discovered at the Mutter Medical Museum in Philadelphia, were identified as children from a murder case in Gallitzin. The case is nearly 45 years old, stemming from the death of Gallitzin resident Stella Elizabeth Williamson, who was born in 1904.
