Temporary bridge relieving traffic in Lackawanna County

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A traffic alert for drivers in Scranton.

PennDOT has shifted traffic from the Green Ridge Street Bridge to a temporary modular steel bridge.

Both lanes on the temporary bridge are usable, and a walkway is in place for pedestrians.

FEMA’s acting administrator is replaced a day after congressional testimony

This change is part of the ongoing Green Ridge Street Bridge Replacement Project.

The temporary bridge will stay in place until the new, permanent one opens early next year.

Police searching for car vandals in Monroe County

Two more charged in case of body found in garbage bags

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two more people have been charged in a case where a body was found in garbage bags on Interstate 80.

Police have charged Rahsaan Goines, 25, of Newark, New Jersey, and his mother, Chata Harris, 49, of Williamsport, in relation to the death of 19-year-old Kevin Cagle after his body was discovered in garbage bags along Interstate 80 in Montour County in October of 2023.

Police investigating robbery in downtown Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a man was robbed in downtown Wilkes-Barre Wednesday morning.

Police say they responded to the area of 34 South Main Street just after 10:30 a.m. for a report of a robbery.

Hazleton homicide suspect Terence Ray in custody

When they arrived, police said the victim told them he was walking on South Main Street and placed $200 into his socks. He was then approached by two men and one of them said "give me the money or you`re going to get hurt" while the other man took his money, according to the police report.
