EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The remnants of Hurricane Debby and other severe weather events across the country have complicated efforts to rebuild the nation's blood supply.
The American Red Cross is calling on people in areas not affected by severe weather to donate blood.
"Since July 1, the national supply is down 25%," said Regional Communications Manager of the American Red Cross Greater Pennsylvania Region Cristina Maisel.

TUNKHANNOCK TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Luzerne County woman is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of items from families who hired her to do housekeeping.
Troopers say 56-year-old Melissa Lugar from Harding stole from at least three families who hired her to do housekeeping chores. Investigators claim she was cleaning up for herself by stealing personal belongings, including jewelry.
Lugar was accompanied by her attorney when she turned herself in at the state police barracks near Tunkhannock.

According to the Newport Township Police Department, around 9:00 p.m. Sunday, an altercation involving eight people took place at the KVAL Food Outlet on East Main Street in Glen Lyon.
