Get free hot dogs at any Sheetz store as they celebrate their 800th store opening

ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) -- Everyone loves a good menu "hack" at their favorite fast food joints, but for Sheetz, no hack is needed to grab yourself free food over Labor Day weekend.

Sheetz, based in Altoona, will be opening their 800th store in North Carolina. To celebrate, the company is giving "Sheetz Freakz" free Sheetz dogs.

The 800th store opens Aug. 28, which is when Sheetz will kick off the celebration. From Aug. 28 through Sept. 2, you can get two free hot dogs with any purchase at any of Sheetz's 800 locations.

PennDOT announces road closure in Lackawanna County

SCOTT TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT announced that part of Route 347 in Scott Township will be closed for a culvert replacement project.

According to PennDOT, Route 347 (Justus Boulevard) between Route 632 (Carbondale Road) and Route 524 (Kennedy Creek Drive) in Scott Township will be closed due to a culvert replacement project from September 2 to the end of fall 2025.

Full steam ahead for Railfest

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An event happening this weekend in Lackawanna County is all steam ahead, getting ready to celebrate railroading in our region.

Learning all the bells and whistles at Steamtown National Historic Site.

“This is the Baldwin 26 060. This was made in 1929 in Eddystone, Pennsylvania,” explained Christian Mazzocchi, heavy mobile equipment mechanic at the Steamtown National Historic Site.

It’s something that’s part of Mazzocchi’s job as a heavy mobile equipment mechanic.
