Dunmore PSP holds annual memorial service

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Troop R in Dunmore held its annual memorial service to honor fallen troopers and pay tribute to those who served before them.

Wednesday's ceremony wasn't just about remembering the past, it was about honoring legacy, reflecting on sacrifice, and bringing together generations of troopers who share a bond that goes beyond the badge.

Since 1905, the PSP has served the commonwealth, and each year, troopers gather to honor those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Couple trains guide dogs for visually impaired

DRUMS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Wednesday is deemed as International Guide Dog Day, highlighting the crucial role canines play in helping people who are blind or visually impaired.

One local couple has been raising guide dog puppies for the past 17 years.

The Luzerne County couple has been volunteering to help raise guide dog puppies for almost two decades, and they say it continues to be an incredibly rewarding experience.

Summer, the Labrador Retriever, has a special job: she's training to become a guide dog.
