Couple accused of writing bad checks to local Amish stores

WILMINGTON Twp., Pa. (WKBN) -- A man accused of armed robbery and his wife are facing forgery charges after allegedly passing bad checks at grocery stores.

According to a criminal complaint, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to an Amish community grocery store in Wilmington Township on April 1. The owner of the store said two personal checks received as payment the day prior were invalid, as the account on the checks no longer existed.

CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News obtained some surveillance video of a crime spree that police say two teens went on over the weekend in Monroe County.

Video shows them breaking into West End Tobacco and Vape on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

One of the boys can be seen firing a gun through the front window of the store.

The two then climbed inside, took several items, including nicotine vapes, THC products, and other items.

The teens also broke into the Bright Fuel gas station.

Residents forced to move out of Wilkes-Barre apartment building

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Some residents in Luzerne County were out of their homes on Tuesday after their building was condemned.

A notice on the door of 16-22 East Union Apartments in Wilkes-Barre says the building is "unfit for human habitation."

The notice from the City of Wilkes-Barre's Code Enforcement Department also says the building is in violation of code for not having a fire alarm, electrical hazards, a plumbing issue, and a roof leak.
