WATCH: Broken valve gushes water in Luzerne County

DUPONT, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Crews are working to fix a broken water valve that gushed water into the street in Dupont Monday morning.

According to Pennsylvania American Water, crews are working to repair the eight-inch valve that broke near the intersection of Lincoln and Curtain streets. Approximately 30 customers are affected.

In a video sent to 28/22 News by Kelly Jordan-Warunek, water could be seen running for blocks from the site of the leak.

A representative from the water company says they expect service to be restored this evening.

Pennsylvania bill would allow police under 21 years of age to carry handguns while off-duty

(WHTM) — A proposed bill in Pennsylvania would allow police officers under 21 years of age to lawfully carry a handgun while off duty.

State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-71) announced in a co-sponsorship memo that he plans to introduce legislation that would clarify that police officers under 21 years of age may lawfully carry a handgun when they are off duty.

D-Day sailor's remains to be buried in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Scranton native's remains will return home with a burial after his death following the D-Day invasion of June 6, 1944.

Sailor Jerome Mullaney passed away aboard the destroyer USS Glennon (DD 620) following the D-Day invasion.

The 2nd Class Seaman's remains will be buried with full military honors in his hometown of Scranton at St. Mary's Cemetery around 11:30 a.m. on September 3.

St. Mary's Cemetery is located at 1341 Stafford Avenue in Scranton.
