LONG POND, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The much-anticipated Cup Series race, the Great American Getaway 400, was underway after some rain.

Before the race started, as the skies cleared up, drivers got their introductions in front of a sold-out crowd.

They spent time with their families before hopping in the cars in hopes of a win.

Earlier on Sunday, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro came to speak at Pocono Raceway.

Earlier on Sunday, fans were kept from the grandstand as thunderstorms rolled through NEPA, but luckily, Mother Nature decided to let up.

CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Archers readied their bows for a weekend of fun in Carbondale. Dozens of people descended on Camp Freedom for Freedom Archery Fest.

The three-day event kicked off Friday, welcoming archers from beginners to experts.

The event gives lovers of the sport and the great outdoors a chance to bond with others and learn about Camp Freedom.

It also raised money for Camp Freedom, which offers outdoor adventures to disabled veterans, first responders, and their families.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The threat of rain could not prevent a loud and proud gathering in Downtown Wilkes-Barre. A parade with roughly 800 participants made its way around Public Square for the Annual NEPA Pridefest.

The LGBTQ+ community and others formed an estimated crowd of thousands that jammed into Center City for live entertainment, food vendors, and craft vendors.

The city beefed up security for the event by using huge dump trucks to close off Public Square.

On one side, the danger the Iranian regime poses to the United States and our allies, on the other, was the strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, worth the potential long-term ramifications it may have on the United States at home and abroad.

A stop at the Arena Hub brought opposing opinions on the US bombing of Iranian nuclear sites.
