CSO distributes hygiene kits

SHAMOKIN — Central Susquehanna Opportunities, Inc. (CSO) successfully distributed 12,000 hygiene bags to local school districts across the region. The bags, provided at no cost to families, were distributed in September to help alleviate the additional financial burdens that often accompany the back-to-school season. These kits contained essential hygiene items that support the well-being of students as they returned to school.

Two charged with selling fentanyl resulting in three deaths

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Two people from Monroe County are facing charges after investigators say they sold fentanyl that resulted in three overdose deaths.

According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, James P. Cullen V, 30, and Michelle L. Ferranti, 31, both of Bartonsville are charged with fentanyl/heroin trafficking charges, including distributing fentanyl that resulted in the deaths of three people.

Main Street in Pittston closed due to building fire

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Crews have shut down a road in Pittston as they battle a building fire.

On Monday around 2:00 p.m., Main Street is closed in the city in the area of Pine Street while crews work on a building fire in the 100 block.

Couple fights off two burglars during break-in

PLYMOUTH, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two men were arrested after police say a husband and a wife fought them to stop a burglary from happening at their home.

According to the Plymouth Borough Police Department, on December 21 around 1:00 a.m., officers were called for a reported burglary in the 110 block of Wadham Street.

Police said a woman was screaming that two people were in her house and her husband had one of the men cornered.

His love for the holiday started at birth, as he was born on Christmas.. But it grew as he got older.

Hazleton Area teacher charged with indecent assault of minor

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Hazleton Area School District teacher is facing charges in connection with the alleged indecent assault of an 11-year-old girl.

Police say 38-year-old Joseph Disabella had indecent contact with the 11-year-old girl in late November and the investigation is ongoing.

Disabella has nothing to say as he leaves district court in Frackville, Schuylkill County Monday morning. He has been charged with indecent assault and corruption of minors in connection with the incident.

Woman charged with child neglect after home found 'not livable'

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a woman will be facing charges after her home was found "not livable" for her three children.

According to the Williamsport Bureau of Police, on December 18, a Lycoming County Probation Officer checked on 24-year-old Deionne Morton's home on West 4th Street in Williamsport.

During the search, the probation officer said they saw the apartment was "not liveable for three small children living there."

PLYMOUTH, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing charges after police say he was caught running an illegal bar and then fought with police during his arrest.

According to the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, investigators raided an illegal business at 145 East Main Street in Plymouth on November 16 around 3:00 a.m.

Investigators stated they discovered 35-year-old Breeze Johnson from Taylor, was illegally selling alcohol without a license.
