Opening day of annual farmers market in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A summer time staple in the Diamond City is back.

The Wilkes-Barre Farmers Market began its 2025 season earlier Thursday on Public Square.

Thursday's market wrapped up around 3:00 p.m., but every Thursday through November 13, visitors can enjoy fresh produce, local vendors, food trucks, and live music.

The market runs rain or shine from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

JENKINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— An annual tradition of 28/22 News giving back to the community is alive and well again this year.

Dozens of workers "in front of the camera" and "behind the scenes" are packing boxes of food for those in need.

It is part of our parent company Nexstar's annual Founder's Day of Caring.

Staff members formed an assembly line at CEO Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank to fill boxes with non-perishable food.

Bob Bolus charged in hit and run

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Scranton businessman is now facing charges after a hit and run last weekend.

Police say Bob Bolus was behind the wheel of a tractor trailer when the trailer hit another vehicle.

It happened during the No Kings protest in Scranton.

3 charged in alleged stolen vehicle crash after pursuit

The Scranton Police Department determined Bolus was at fault in the crash.

He is charged with two misdemeanors.

Sayre man sentenced to 98 to 200 years for rape and drug crimes

SAYRE, Pa. (WETM) – A Sayre man has been sentenced to serve at least 98 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to meth and rape related charges in March of 2025.

Sean R. Hall, 45, was sentenced on Thursday, June 19, to a minimum of 98 years to a maximum of 206 years in prison, a combination of sentences for two separate crimes he committed, after he pleaded guilty to 21 felony charges, including:

Four counts of operating a methamphetamine lab

Six counts of raping a substantially impaired person after administering drugs without the victim’s knowledge

Man dies after apparent medical episode on Cross Valley

FORTY FORT, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Luzerne County man is dead after he pulled over and suffered an apparent medical episode on the South Cross Valley Expressway Wednesday night.

30-year-old Dustin Eyerman, from Dupont, was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley where he died after he pulled over and suffered a medical episode on South Cross Valley Expressway just before Exit 3.

Luzerne County Communications Center stated that crews were called to what was thought to be a crash around 9:00 p.m., but that was not the case.
