WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they are investigating an incident where five suspects allegedly assaulted a man after a softball game.
On August 10, around 11:00 p.m., officers were called to Coal Street Park for an assault victim.
The victim stated he was attending a softball game when five men confronted him, police stated.
Arrest made after deadly Wilkes-Barre shooting
According to Wilkes-Barre City Police, the victim claimed that the five then physically assaulted him before several bystanders intervened.

HAWLEY, WAYNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A joint investigation into drug trafficking resulted in the arrest of four people and a large amount of various drugs seized from a residence.
Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin and Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell announced a joint operation into a drug trafficking investigation in the Hawley-Palmyra Area of Wayne and Pike Counties.
The investigation led to a search warrant being issued for a residence in the 700 block of Church Street in Hawley.

(AP) — A last-ditch effort to prevent half of all public transit services from being eliminated in the Philadelphia region passed Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives on Monday, as a roughly $1 billion Democratic-backed funding plan advanced toward an uncertain future in the Republican-controlled state Senate.
The bill — which includes funding for highways, too — increases aid for transit agency operations by $292 million, or about 25% more, with the lion’s share of the money going to the Philadelphia-based Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.

(WBRE/WYOU) — A former Pennsylvania correctional officer has been sentenced for drug transactions that resulted in a death after selling various narcotics across Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties.
According to Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, 28-year-old Santino Bellucci of Dickson City was sentenced to 252 months for conspiracy to distribute and possess oxycodone and 40 grams or more of fentanyl resulting in death.
