Egg prices holding steady at Waverly farm

WAVERLY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — With egg prices soaring past $5 a dozen, many are either paying the high price, or just not buying them, but some are turning to alternatives, including local farms or egg substitutes for cooking.

Bird flu has egg prices skyrocketing but some locals are looking for other ways to get their breakfast and baking staple.

"The egg prices are crazy. They're high. I haven't even bought eggs in about a few months because of how expensive it is," said shopper Tashanna Hendricks.

Shed fire threatens Nescopeck Township home

NESCOPECK TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A shed went up in flames and threatened to catch a home on fire in Nescopeck Township Tuesday night.

Officials say the Nescopeck Township Fire Company was called to the 600 block of Zenith Road for a reported fire at about 6:10 p.m.

Alleged arsonist charged with attempted murder

A member of the Nescopeck Township Fire Company says the fire broke out at a shed next to a home on Zenith Road.

No one was injured in the fire and some of the siding melted off the home but it did not catch fire.
