Commonwealth University to vote on president's future

(WBRE/WYOU) — Commonwealth University's faculty and coaches are set to take a no-confidence vote on the University's president on February 11 and 12.

The Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Facilities (APSCUF) President Dr. Kenneth M. Mash issued a statement in November of 2024 calling for President Bashar Hanna's presidency to end.

One injured, three houses damaged during fire

NOXEN TWP., WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Fire crews battled a fire that caused damage to three houses in Wyoming County.

Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Main Street in Noxen Township around 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

28/22 News is on the scene where three houses appear to be damaged. One house has been destroyed while two other houses have sustained damage to the siding due to the fire.

Assistant Chief Noxen Fire Department Dave Hopfer says at least three families have been displaced and one person is suffering burnt injuries.

WASHINGTON (WDCW/NEXSTAR) – President Donald Trump held a briefing Thursday morning on the deadly collision between an American Airlines plane and a military helicopter over the Potomac River.

The briefing began just before 11:30 a.m. EST, with Trump requesting a moment of silence "for the victims and their families."

The president called Wednesday night's crash an "hour of anguish for our nation" and a "dark and excruciating night in our nation’s capital, and our nation’s history."

Winter Weather Advisory: Freezing rain on the horizon in PA

(WBRE/WYOU) — The next storm system arrives late Thursday into early Friday in Pennsylvania with some freezing rain.

Starting late Thursday night into early Friday morning rain and pockets of freezing rain arrives.

With temperatures hovering around the freezing mark, some areas, especially in the higher elevations, have to watch for some icy spots.

Crash under investigation after Scranton man dies

COOLBAUGH TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Monroe County Coroner reports a crash is under investigation after a Scranton man died.

Coroner Thomas A. Yanac said a single-vehicle crash occurred around 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning on Memorial Boulevard in Coolbaugh Township.

The Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department stated they found a car in the woods and later learned the driver traveled over the median, off the roadway, hitting an embankment and then a utility pole.
