LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Elections in Luzerne County have had a few bumps in the road the past few years, but the county has formed a new team to make sure things go well next time voters cast ballots and they'll get a big test in a few months during the primary.

Luzerne County Manager Romilda Crocamo says this county needs reform, so they're forming an Elections Task Force Team.

Following last year's general election, Crocamo believes changes need to be made.

Crocamo has a plan to raise the bar on the way elections are run beginning in April with the primary.

CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Plans for the Pocono Interchange to be closed overnight due to installing a new overhead sign has been cancelled, according to the PA Turnpike Commission.

The commission advised that the Pocono Interchange, Exit 95, would have been closed starting at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29 until 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30.

UGI gas customers fuming over rate increase request

Officials stated that drivers would have had to go to the next exit and find an alternative route to get to their destination.

A regional jet carrying 60 passengers and four crew members collided with a military helicopter on Wednesday night as it approached Washington Reagan National Airport.

The flight was en route from Wichita, Kan., to Washington, D.C., American Airlines said in a statement.

"Our concern is for the passengers and crew on board the aircraft. We are in contact with authorities and assisting with emergency response efforts," the airline said.

At least 28 bodies were pulled from the icy waters of the Potomac River after the helicopter apparently flew into the path of the American Airlines jet Wednesday.

A closure was in place from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday to install a new overhead sign, but the closure has been canceled.

It comes as Meta and CEO Mark Zuckerberg have joined other large technology companies in trying to ingratiate themselves with the new administration.
