Wyoming County DA discusses human trafficking fight

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Law enforcement officials say they are intensifying their efforts to track down human traffickers and their victims. The push is on to make the public aware of human trafficking and what to look out for, how to take action, and possibly save lives.

"'I'll kill you, or parents!' What does a 12, 13, 14-year-old girl do? She reacts with her heart, and she will do anything for this guy, and you know how he further owns her? He then starts giving her drugs," Wyoming County District Attorney Joe Peters told 28/22 News.

Girls play off-road to ‘Pack the Park’ 

TREMONT TOWNSHIP, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Getting inside her decked-out Jeep, Jaimee Stecker-Betts isn’t going for a drive around the block.

She’s off-roading on dirt, rocks, and hills at Rausch Creek Off-Road Park in Tremont Township.

Her passion is not for the weak, but it was a reawakening for her years ago.

“I started wheeling eight years ago when I got sober, I found myself in my jeep and in the woods and connected, and it’s been my happy place.”

Now she’s sharing it with other women through the organization ‘Girls Play Off-Road.’

Sergeant who shot 5 soldiers at Fort Stewart was tackled by witnesses, officials say

FORT STEWART, Ga. (WSAV) — Five soldiers were shot Wednesday after an Army sergeant opened fire at Fort Stewart, prompting lockdowns at the Georgia base, authorities have confirmed.

Brig. Gen. John W. Lubas identified the shooter as logistics Sgt. Quornelius Radford, 28, during a press conference Wednesday. A telephone number listed for Radford in public records rang unanswered.

'Long-time drug dealer' operating out of hotel found guilty

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Lackawanna County District Attorney announced a jury has found a "long-time drug dealer" guilty on various drug trafficking charges.

A jury has found Junior Rashean Jackson, of Scranton, guilty on the following charges after a two-day trial:

Possession with intent to deliver fentanyl

Possession with intent to deliver cocaine

Possession of fentanyl

Possession of cocaine

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Tenor Health Foundation to purchase three Commonwealth Health medical facilities
