SUNBURY, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — New details were released Monday on a shooting that took place in broad daylight last week in Northumberland County.

Police say 46-year-old Jared Wolfe of Milton is being accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend while under the influence.

Police were called to the 1000 block of Court Street in Sunbury on Friday around 2:00 p.m.

When police arrived, they found the victim, later identified as Jane White, unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the chest.

ELYSBURG — Due to the severity of the winter storm, PennDOT is advising that commercial trucks and large trucks avoid Route 54 between Route 487 in Ralpho Township and Route 61 in Mount Carmel Township in Northumberland County.

Police say they were dispatched to the 1000 block of Court Street in Sunbury around 1:45 p.m. on Friday, January 3 for a female bleeding in the street.

According to police, Jared Heath Wolfe, 46, of Milton, is facing first and third-degree murder charges and other weapons-related charges regarding the incident.

MOUNT CARMEL, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — One person remains in the hospital following a weekend fire at a nursing home in Northumberland County.

State police say the fire broke out in a hallway at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community Saturday morning.

20 people, including 5 first responders, were taken to the hospital for breathing in smoke.All but one staff member were treated and released.

12 residents who couldn't return are now receiving care at another facility.

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — More than a dozen people are being treated at a local hospital Saturday night after flames destroyed a section of a nursing center in our area.

For hours, police and EMS crews worked to get people who were inside the Northumberland County Mount Carmel Senior Living Community to safety.

Flames that broke out around 7:30 a.m. destroyed the senior living section of the building and sent 12 residents, three employees, and five first responders to the hospital.

A Northumberland County bridge closed last month after it was damaged in an accident is expected to remain closed for more than three months to allow for repairs, PennDOT officials said Friday.

Motorists in north central Pennsylvania are advised numerous roads are closed due to high winds that caused downed trees, utility poles and wires.

Motorists in Northumberland County are advised that Interstate 80 westbound is closed between mile 215 (Limestoneville) and mile 212 (Milton) due to a crash involving multiple vehicles.

A detour is in place using Route 254 west at Limestoneville to Route 147 north at Milton to I-80 west.
