Firefighters called after hot tub catches fire

MOUNT CARMEL, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Firefighters were called after a hot tub caught fire Tuesday night in Northumberland County.

The Northumberland County Comm Center told 28/22 News that crews were called to the intersection of Water and Locust Street just after 6:45 p.m. for a reported house fire.

Once on the scene, officials say they found a hot tub had caught fire and the flames extended to the siding on the home.

DEP extends Code Orange declaration for NEPA

28/22 NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) says there will be a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day on Wednesday as Canadian wildfires persist.

On Tuesday, the DEP announced they declared a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for particulate matter from wildfire smoke for Wednesday, August 6, in several counties in the Keystone State.

Below are the listed counties that could be impacted:

Tioga County

Union County

Snyder County

Northumberland County

Lycoming County

Police investigating after man was shot twice

KULPMONT, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) are investigating a shooting that happened late Friday night that injured one man.

Troopers say they responded just before 11:30 p.m. to a report of shots fired at the rear alley on the 900 block of Spruce Street.

Troopers then found a 36-year-old man who suffered two gunshot wounds.

Two sent to hospital after crashing into pole barn

PSP are investigating the shooting, and it is unknown if a suspect is in custody at this time.

The victim is expected to make a recovery.
