Fish fry season has begun in NEPA

BERWICK, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Many people are enjoying non-meat options this first Friday of Lent.

For the next few weeks, dozens of churches and fire companies all across our area hold annual Lenten fish fries to help raise money.

This is the second week for their popular fish fry.

During Lent, millions of faithful abstain from eating meat in preparation for Easter which is April 20.

Friday March 6 is Black Balloon Day, but instead of releasing balloons, organizers have created their own unique memorial.

Rows of glowing luminary bags stand as a tribute, each one representing a loved one taken by addiction.

‘First Friday’ event features local artists

The event brings awareness to substance use and offers support to grieving families.

Volunteers are also distributing Narcan kits and harm reduction resources to help prevent future tragedies.

Concerts at the Bloomsburg Fair announced

BLOOMSBURG, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The lineup for the 170th Bloomsburg Fair Weis Markets Grandstand has been announced.

The following acts will be performed at the Weis Markets Grandstand at the 2025 Bloomsburg Fair in September.
