Residents sent home following chlorine leak

MILLVILLE, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A community pool shut down after a chlorine leak was detected by borough employees earlier Thursday.

Some 40 homes were also evacuated as a precaution to that leak.

The leak is now clear and cleaned up, but for much of the afternoon, the area surrounding the pool was blocked off.

This was the scene Thursday afternoon outside Little Fishing Creek Area Pool in Millville.

Fire officials say a chlorine leak was detected in the pool's chemical room before 10:00 a.m. during a routine maintenance check.

MILLVILLE, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A chemical leak at a pool caused evacuations in the area on Thursday.

Repairs were underway in the pump house at Little Fishing Creek Area Swimming Pool when a leak caused two chemicals to mix, according to the pool's Facebook page.

The pool was already closed at the time of the leak due to the repairs. The pool's social media said the leak was discovered immediately, and safety procedures were initiated.

Police investigating theft of 12 chickens

FISHING CREEK TOWNSHIP, COLUMBIA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after 12 chickens were stole from a coop on July 5.

According to the release, troopers say that they were called to Ridge Road for a report of a theft of chickens.

Officials say that after investigation, it was determined that between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., three Hispanic men wearing ski masks broke into the victims chicken coop and stole around 12 assorted breed of chickens.
