WEST HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police say they seized 28 dogs while serving a search warrant at a home in Luzerne County as part of an animal fighting ring investigation.
Pennsylvania State Police say on Thursday, March 6, troopers discovered 28 dogs after an animal cruelty and dog fighting investigation.
A search warrant was issued at a residence in West Hazleton where inside troopers said they found dogs, along with numerous items related animal fighting.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they are determining if two people found with gunshot wounds are part of one or two separate incidents.
On Wednesday, March 5 at 8:40 p.m. and 9:50 p.m., officers were called to area hospitals about two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Wilkes-Barre City Police's Detective Division said they responded to both hospitals to interview the two involved.
Body discoverd in wooded area identified

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The coroner has identified the body of a man that was discovered in a wooded area in Scranton on Tuesday.
Coroner Timothy Rowland states that 67-year-old Thomas J Drozdick, of Scranton, died from severe cardiovascular disease.
Rowland says Thomas was found in a wooded area near North Main Avenue and West Gibson Street on March 4.

EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Monroe County Coroner has identified the two victims killed in an East Stroudsburg restaurant fire Wednesday.
Coroner Thomas Yanac states that 34-year-old Jennifer Lugo and 42-year-old Ashton Patterson lost their lives due to a fire that broke out at the Wander Inn Bar and Grill.
Spin Doctors equipment stolen from Pa. storage unit
A third victim has been hospitalized after the fire and is receiving treatment. Their condition is unknown at this time.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Luzerne County man learned his fate Thursday after being convicted back in November of scamming a 93-year-old woman out of her lifelong home.
Jeremy Cieniawa, of Hazleton, was sentenced to 9 to 22 years in state prison for ripping off a woman he was supposed to be taking care of.

The Hazleton woman, who is now 96, also suffers from dementia.
Cieniawa moved in with her in 2021. He sold her home for $77,000 and spent all but $4,000 on himself.

PENN TWP., SNYDER COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are investigating a theft of music equipment that caused the 90s band, The Spin Doctors, to lose over $12,000 worth of gear.
Pennsylvania State Police stated that on February 22, troopers began investigating the theft of music equipment from a storage unit at D.M.D Mini Storage in Penn Township, Snyder County.
Luzerne County nursing home set to close
According to troopers, the equipment belongs to the 90s band The Spin Doctors. The equipment that was stolen had a total value of $12,930.
