Representative Rob Bresnahan and his wife, Chelsea Strub, announced today what's called The Greenlight Project.
Funds from the project will be distributed through the philanthropic organization The Luzerne Foundation.
Different themes will be determined each year to help guide funding priorities. The first theme is "Bridging the Gap."

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Several people were displaced, and three firefighters were injured after a Scranton fire Sunday night.
It was a frantic scene on Scranton's south side. Fire shot through a business and row homes at Pittston Avenue and Orchard Street.
Crews were called just before 6:00 p.m. to the 300 block of Pittston Avenue in Scranton for a reported house fire.
Scranton Fire Chief John Judge told 28/22 News the fire impacted three homes, causing about 20 people have be displaced.

Donations raised go to the charity Chop Out Hunger, with a local realtor matching up to $350. The organizer says it's about more than just a haircut.

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — In Scranton, a community is turning out to help animal rescues struggling to keep up. Paws in the Park brought animal lovers and their pets to McDade Park.
Dogs enjoyed the park, snacking on some treats and even splashing in a doggie pool to cool off, while people packed the paths, all to support Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
The shelter hopes to raise $10,000 to finish their new vet clinic as well as to keep helping animals.

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — People are celebrating the Susquehanna River this weekend with an event that has its origins in ancient China. A crowd gathered at Nesbitt Park on Sunday for the annual dragon boat races.
Nine teams armed with paddles made their way along the water in canoe-like vessels decorated like dragons.
Besides the fun on the river, plenty of activities were held on land. The riverfront parks committee hosts the event.
