Road closures due to flooding in central Pa.

(WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT reports that various roadways are currently being impacted due to flooding across the state Monday afternoon.

Drivers in north central Pennsylvania are advised that the following roads are closed or have lane restrictions due to flooding, downed trees, or utilities.

Columbia

Route 1025 (Summer Hill Road) between Dairy Road/Twin Church Road and Water Dam Road in Briar Creek Township.

Lycoming

Route 220 between Route 405 in Hughesville Borough, Lycoming County, and Route 42 in Laporte Township, Sullivan County.

Campground evacuated due to flooding

FAIRMOUNT TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Tense moments in parts of Luzerne County as heavy rain triggers flash flooding. A summer camp was evacuated after floodwaters surged through the area.

Luzerne County EMA helped coordinate the response to the flash flooding in the county overnight and early Monday morning.

One of the hardest hit areas was Patterson Grove in Fairmount Township, a summer camp. These waters are from Lake Jean and Kitchen Creek. Normally, no water flows through Patterson Grove.

(WBRE/WYOU) — Flood Watches are in effect for all of northeast and central Pennsylvania through Tuesday until midnight.

Several locations are dealing with heavy rainfall overnight and Monday morning, leading to localized flooding issues.

With the ground already saturated, any additional rain will create more flash flooding concerns. 

A slow-moving cold front will help showers and storms develop, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Glen Mawr evacuated as flash flooding hits central PA

(WBRE/WYOU) — Raging waters from overnight rain are causing problems in several areas of central Pennsylvania.

Glen Mawr in Lycoming County was evacuated early Monday morning due to the quickly rising waters.

Sections of Muncy Creek near Beech Glen, Sullivan County, can be seen running over the roadway, with water approaching multiple homes. Muncy Creek reportedly rose 10 feet in 3-4 hours.

Crews battling electrical fire at popular marketplace

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Crews are on-scene of a fire at a popular supermarket on Sunday night.

According to Lackawanna County Communications Center, crews were called to Schiff's on North Main Avenue just before 7:00 p.m. for a report of an electrical fire.

Road reopened after heavy rains caused temporary closure

Officials say that there have been no reported injuries and the fire is under control.

It is unknown at this time the cause of the fire, or if there were any damage to products.
