Every 3-point shot the University of Scranton's Men's Basketball team makes is worth more than just three points. With the help of a few local businesses, it's also a $5 donation to the Boys and Girls Club of NEPA.

PLYMOUTH TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police in Wilkes-Barre are investigating a burglary that was reported Thursday morning.
Troopers say they received a call just before noon from an 81-year-old man from Hanover Township.

UPDATE: This story has been edited to include the new dates for the project as provided by PennDOT.
SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT has announced a change to the traffic pattern on Interstate 81 in Susquehanna County.
The project was initially going to begin on January 13 and run until to January 27. There has been an update and the work has been rescheduled to a later date to be announced. Between mile markers 228 to 232.7, the southbound lanes will be transitioned to a new lane and the median starting at the New York State line.

(WTAJ) -- More than 100 Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) were reported being seen in Pennsylvania in 2024, according to the National UFO Reporting Center.
The center's website allows people to report objects and lights seen in the sky in hopes someone can answer their questions and possibly identify what they saw.
Some possible identifications include drones, satellites and even Chinese lanterns being released nearby (click here to see video from Montgomery County).

SWIFTWATER, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police have issued a felony arrest warrant for a man who they say fled an officer, leading to a high-speed chase.
On January 7, police issued an arrest warrant for Gilbert Vasquez, 30, who was pulled over for a traffic stop for an equipment violation back on June 14, 2024. According to authorities, Vasquez then fled from the officer which resulted in a multi-officer high-speed chase.

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pittston City Police Department is issuing a reminder to residents after an uptick in thefts of certain vehicles.
Police say they have seen an increase in thefts of Kia and Hyundai vehicles in the Greater Pittston and Wyoming areas.
Police say this is part of a nationwide trend that lets thieves start certain vehicles without having a key.
"Anyone who owns a Kia or Hyundai is encouraged to contact their dealer to inquire about security software upgrades that recently became available," police noted.
