DANVILLE — Danville’s Canal Park will look a bit different this week after a canal boat and mule were put on display Friday afternoon.

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Wyoming Valley Run is set to kick off on Sunday. Officials have released the expected road closures across various towns.

The following road closures will take place on September 1, in Pittston, West Pittston, Exeter, Wyoming, Forty Fort, Kingston, and Wilkes-Barre:

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— The Scranton police detective, who was seriously wounded in a January 11 shooting, has filed a lawsuit against the parents of Aiden Deininger for not securing their firearm.

Gilmartin is seeking $100,000 dollars in damages from Alex and Crystal Eastman on charges of negligence and negligent entrustment.

The lawsuit alleges Deininger, 21, took the black Ruger LCR revolver and fired 5 shots into the police cruiser, two of which struck Gilmartin in the head.
