Travel agent pleads guilty to theft in Lackawanna County

ARCHBALD, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A West Pittston woman who promised dream vacations but left customers empty-handed has pleaded guilty.

Eileen Miner admitted to 38 felony counts of theft on Monday, including nine cases moved from Luzerne to Lackawanna County.

Police say she took thousands of dollars through her travel company, Thompson Tours, canceling trips without providing refunds, including a group headed to Italy last year.

Authorities say three police officers were fatally shot and two wounded in southern Pennsylvania, and the shooter was killed by police. Gov. Josh Shapiro says Wednesday the state is grieving and that “we need to do better as a society.” The shooting erupted in the area of North Codorus Township, west of Philadelphia and not far from the Maryland state line. Officials would not say which police department the officers belonged to, but shared they were following up on a domestic-related investigation that began the previous day.

Crews battle rekindled fire in Lackawanna County

GREENFIELD TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A fiery scene in Lackawanna County, and a moment of bravery that may have saved a life.

Crews were called Tuesday night to Sandy Banks Road in Greenfield Township, authorities explained.

Officials say two passersby were the ones who spotted the house fire, got the resident to safety, and called 911 around 9:00 p.m.

PA AG leads raid in Luzerne County warehouse

JENKINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A developing story coming out of Luzerne County Wednesday afternoon: law enforcement is raiding a warehouse operation. The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office is leading that raid.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office confirms they are conducting the raid at the facility located on Centerpoint Boulevard in Jenkins Township, inside the CenterPoint Pittston Industrial Park.

The state Attorney General's Office is in charge of the investigation.
