MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A heads up for Monroe County residents: Monroe County officials announced on Monday they will be launching a county-wide property assessment.
In a release, Monroe County officials announced they have partnered with Tyler Technologies to perform a county-wide property assessment.
The initiative comes after the county's last reassessment carried out in 2020, the release explained.

On Tuesday, July 8, the Stroud Area Regional Police Department SWAT Team executed a "high-risk" search warrant at a home on Borough Street in East Stroudsburg.

SMITHFIELD TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The coroner confirms that a man injured in a motorcycle and vehicle collision has died.
Monroe County Coroner Thomas A. Yanac states 60-year-old Kris Kierski from Pike County was pronounced dead on the scene, around 11:00 p.m., on July 27.
Victim identified after incident in Hersheypark
Kierski died after a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle on Independence Road in Smithfield Township.

PLAINS TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man was arrested after police say he threw a brick at the Fox56 station window.
Plains Township Police were called to State Route 315, Fox 56, for a caller stating "send everyone." The caller reached out to 9-1-1 a second time, claiming he was avoiding someone trying to kill him and threw a brick through a window to gain entry, police stated.

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Lackawanna County has filed a lawsuit against the contractor hired to reconstruct the "leak-plagued" swimming pool at McDade Park.
The county's suit against D&M Construction Unlimited, of Dalton, alleges that the "contractor breached its contract with the county through 'defective' work."
D&M was hired for the $2,637,000 contract in February 2023 to work on a new bathhouse and renovate the pool, which was supposed to be completed by July 2023.
