Suspect in custody after shooting with stolen firearm

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— One man is in custody after a shooting that killed one man and injured another.

Jose Sandoval Perez is being held on charges of felony Theft of a Firearm, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Firearms not to be Carried without a License.

Hazleton City Police Chief Brian Schoonmaker and District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce released a statement saying police were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. to a local bar and restaurant at the corner of 20th and Alter Street for a report of shots fired.

1 woman dead, former PSU WR injured, after ATV crash

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, BRADFORD COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) say a woman is dead and a man is seriously injured after an ATV crash Friday night in Bradford County.

In a release, troopers say before 8:15 p.m., authorities were called to Painter Lick Lane in Columbia Township Friday night after an ATV crash.

State police explain that the ATV was traveling Northbound on Painter Lick Lane when it struck a deer that jumped out into the roadway.

Runners rally in Old Forge for borough's bravest

OLD FORGE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — In Lackawanna County, a race that's about more than just winning. More than 70 participants laced up their running shoes in Old Forge for the Annual Borough's Bravest 5K.

The event supports the all-volunteer Old Forge Fire Department.

The course took runners from Veterans Memorial Stadium, through neighborhoods, and ended a block away from the iconic Revello's Pizza.

This is the third year that runners, walkers, and first responders have taken part.

Kids took charge on Saturday at a Children's Business Fair at High Point Baptist Church in Larksville.

Visitors checked out 15 different booths to shop for handmade crafts, grab a walking taco, or even build a birdhouse.
