3 adults and 3 juveniles charged after alleged poaching

SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Three adults and three juveniles are facing charges after the alleged illegal poaching of seven deer, a raccoon, and the attempted killing of four additional deer.

After an investigation that began in October of 2023, the Pennsylvania Game Commission said the individuals were driving around at night, spotlighting, and shooting deer from their vehicle.

Neighbor weighs in on collection of ordnances from Luzerne home

LUZERNE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News has the latest on a massive amount of explosives found inside a Luzerne County home. The discovery Friday ended with a New Jersey bomb squad collecting hundreds of military ordnances.

28/22 News has now learned more information about the collection and what a neighbor has to say about it.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit had to make two trips to the home to collect roughly 300 military weapons and ammunition.

PA police officer shot in line of duty

POTTSTOWN, MONTGOMERY COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities in Montgomery County say an officer was shot Sunday evening.

The incident reportedly happened in the area of Winding Road Sunday evening, NBC10 reports.

Reports say police responded to a two-car crash late this afternoon in Pottstown.

According to reports, a source said a man involved in the crash tried to grab a gun from one of the cars, leading to a struggle with police.

The gunman then reportedly ran into his nearby home and opened fire.

Hazleton bursts with color in first-ever Tulip Day

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Downtown Hazleton is bursting with a sea of color as community spirit blooms for its first-ever Tulip Day. The event on Sunday afternoon at Can Do Community Park featured a stunning display of 50,000 blooming tulips.

All guests got to enjoy music, food trucks, and a chance to pick 10 tulips for free.

"People can get out, get downtown, pick some tulips, it's Spring. Tulips ARE spring. It's what Spring's all about," said Alex Van Hoekelen, Organizer from Van Hoekelen Greenhouses.
