Teen produces podcast to spread positivity

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local teen developed a podcast to uplift and inspire people, and has been online now for a few years. Her motivation came from a family member.

This week's segment of Here's to You Kid 28/22 takes us to meet Kylie Montigney.

Spreading positive and uplifting content is what 18-year-old Kylie Montigney strives to do. That's also why she started her podcast Talk Of Fame.

106th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony thanks veterans in Scranton

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Electric City is saying thank you to our veterans in a very big way.

The 106th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony was held on Courthouse Square. Koch-Conley American Legion Post 121 is one of the oldest posts in the nation. They have hosted the annual Veterans Day event for decades.

"We've been doing this program for over 60 years," said Koch Conley Post 121 Colonel Joe Albert.

State police charge man with killing dog

THORNHURST TWP., LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing charges after police say he killed a dog in Lackawanna County.

According to state police, on October 22, troopers learned that 30-year-old Jack Giles of Thornhurst Township stabbed a dog and cut its throat.

Police say after killing the dog, Giles placed it in a plastic tote and covered it in clothing then fled the scene.

A warrant was obtained for Giles on aggravated cruelty to animal charges and he was arrested on October 31.

MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police report they arrested a man wanted on 34 warrants after a DUI incident on Interstate 81.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on November 10, around 11:50 p.m., troopers pulled over a vehicle on I-81 in Moosic.

Police say they learned the driver, Jeremy Crisi, 44, of Moscow, had 34 arrest warrants issued out of various Lackawanna County magisterial district courts.

Who is responsible for fixing Route 209 sinkholes in Lansford?

LANSFORD, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Safety concerns and lots of questions are being expressed on Monday by officials and residents of a Carbon County community regarding sinkholes that are appearing in that community.

Lansford council members reached out to the I-Team for help claiming their concerns were not being addressed by state officials.

The sinkholes, six altogether, are showing up on Route 209 which is a major connecting route between Carbon and Schuylkill Counties.

Dump truck driver punched, choked out during road rage encounter

PENN TWP., SNYDER COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A road rage suspect is wanted after police say he choked and punched a dump truck driver multiple times after his van was hit by a stone.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on October 9 around 3:30 p.m., a man was assaulted in a road rage incident on Route 35 in Penn Township, Snyder County.

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania State Police are warning people of a Bitcoin scam, where callers can appear as representatives from your financial institution.

According to State police, the fake representatives of the financial institutions will direct you to an "investigator" of the FBI or FTC, where the "investigator" gets the victim to make large withdrawals from their bank accounts and put the money into Bitcoin kiosks.

Search for missing Monroe County man

BARTONSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are searching for a Bartonsville man reported missing since last Tuesday.

According to the Pocono Township Police Department, officers are trying to locate 33-year-old Edward J. Geromanos III, who was last seen on November 5.
