EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced they ban campfires on state parks and forest lands until further notice.
According to officials, the next 10-day forecast for Pennsylvania predicts little to no precipitation making the current situation of extremely dry conditions worse.
The release states PA has experienced 100 reported wildfires in the past week, with many more unreported.

CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An out-of-this-world festival is taking place in Lackawanna County this weekend.
Tucked away at Russell Park in Carbondale is the Silt Pond. The pond is part of history, as nearly 50 years ago it was where an alleged UFO crashed.
“The pond was glowing for many hours, if not many days, and spectators came from all over the place. There were thousands of people here,” said Mary Ann Savakinus, director, of the Lackawanna Historical Society.

HANOVER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say the victim of a home invasion in Hanover Township tackled one of the three suspects to prevent him from escaping until officers arrived.
According to the Hanover Township Police Department, on November 4 around 6:00 p.m., a man and a woman were in a bedroom on the second floor of their home on Lee Park Avenue when they heard footsteps outside the door.
Police stated the victim thought it was a family member in the hallway until three men wearing masks with handguns stormed into the bedroom.

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Luzerne County Transporation Authority (LCTA) will hold a public meeting after they announced multiple route changes and a new microtransit service.
New routes and a new microtransit service called LCTA CONNECTS have been unveiled. The new routes are set to run in conjunction with the new CONNECTS service, which is an on-demand app that allows customers to request a ride from anywhere within the service zone boundaries.

PENN FORREST TWP., CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Carbon County coroner has identified the driver who died when his vehicle caught fire after a crash.
Carbon County Coroner’s Office stated the crash happened in Penn Forest Township, on the Pennsylvania Turnpike mile marker 83.2 around 9:35 p.m. Wednesday.
