(WBRE/WYOU) — The fate of three federal buildings in northeastern Pennsylvania is in doubt Wednesday night. After reports that they were targeted for possible sale or closure as part of the Trump administration's efforts to slash the size of the federal government.
The buildings in question are located in Luzerne County and house Social Security operations. It's still unclear what the fate of those federal buildings and the employees, around 1,000, are.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are searching for a 14-year-old reported missing in Wilkes-Barre.
According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, 14-year-old Lamir Dais was reported missing.
Brother of Wawa shooting suspect charged
Police say Dais was last seen wearing a black coat, shirt, and sweatpants with red Jordan sneakers.

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Wyoming Area Regional Police say they are investigating a scam where someone is impersonating a church pastor.
Police say people are receiving text messages saying they are "Pastor Sempa" from Corpus Christi Parish. The messages request donations of gift cards and cash to help families in need.
Former president allegedly stole $26K from football club
These messages are a scam. Police say do not respond to the messages and that Corpus Christi Parish does not solicit donations via text message.

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — News of the alleged theft hit Nanticoke area football players and parents hard on Tuesday. The big question now is, can they make up the $26,000 hole in their fundraising efforts?
Until now, parents 28/22 News spoke with say they were left with little to no answers as to how much was stolen, who was allegely involved, and what was being done about it.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two men have been sentenced for a shooting that killed a 22-year-old man in Wilkes-Barre in January of 2023.
Yua-mir Grayson and Kadeen Carruth have been charged with third-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
Police, coroner launch investigation after man found dead in Scranton
A third person that was charged, Breanna Knight, pled guilty to conspiracy to commit murder back in January of 2023.
She has not yet been sentenced.
