WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are investigating what they describe as an attempted assault by a man with a machete in Wilkes-Barre last week.
According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, on October 18, around 10:30 p.m., officers were informed of an attempted assault on South Franklin Street.

The victim, 21, of Wilkes-Barre, told officers he was inside a vehicle parked in the 400 block of South Franklin Street when he saw the suspect open the passenger side door.

PLAINS TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are searching for a man after they say a voucher worth nearly $500 was stolen at Mohegan Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Gaming Enforcement Mohegan Wilkes-Barre Office is investigating a voucher theft that happened on October 5 at Mohegan Pennsylvania Casino.
The man pictured stole a voucher valued at $493.86, police reported.

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Drivers should be on the lookout for likely traffic issues on Interstate 81 to start the work week.
From Monday to Thursday, lane restrictions will be in effect in the Wilkes-Barre area so crews can do some bridge deck patching.
Structure fire sends one firefighter to hospital in Lackawanna County
The work is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in the Southbound lanes between mile markers 167 and 169.
The project will shift to the Northbound lanes on Wednesday and Thursday between mile markers 168 and 169.

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Multiple crews from Luzerne County were on-scene battling a house fire that started Saturday night.
According to Luzerne County 911 Center, crews were called to the unit block of Charlwood Drive around 7:30 p.m. for a reported structure fire.
One dead, one flown to hospital after car into tractor-trailer
The fire was quickly upgraded to a second alarm structure prompting calls for additional units.
Officials say that there are no reported injuries or entrapment inside the home.

HANOVER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A shooting investigation is underway in Hanover Township.
According to the Hanover Township Police Department, they are investigating to shooting that took place at the intersection of Sively Street and Kings Road around 11:45 p.m.
Police say while on scene, officers heard additional shots being fired somewhere in the vicinity of Colonels Road and Keystone Road.

LANSFORD, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A fire burned through a home in Carbon County Thursday night.
According to American Fire Company #1, crews were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night to the 200 block of Ridge Street for a fire with entrapment.
Fire Chief Joseph Greco states it started at the end of a section three-row home on Ridge Street.
One person from the home exited outside the porch roof while two others made it out on their own, and were transported to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest for smoke inhalation and respiratory burns,
