SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Lackawanna County's Electric City Trolley Museum is now open for the 2025 season with excursions happening daily.

The museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with excursions happening Thursdays to Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.

2 acres burned in Newton Township brush fire

NEWTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — About two acres have been burned after a brush fire in Lackawanna County Wednesday evening.

Newton Ransom Volunteer Fire Department Chief says they got the call for a brush fire around 7:30 p.m. on Fawn Hill Lane in Newton Township.

Crews were able to put out the flames quickly, but the wind made it a little more difficult.

2 sent to hospital, man facing charges after Luzerne County police chase

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities say two people were sent to the hospital and a man is facing multiple charges after a police chase across Luzerne County.

Police say on April 9, at around noon, an officer was on duty when their patrol vehicle equipped with a License Plate Reader (LPR) received a hit.

Officials explain that the LPR hit was on a 2008 blue Volvo stopped in the southbound lane of Wyoming Avenue at the intersection of Market Street in Kingston with an expired registration.
