Coffee prices may be going up in the near future

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— You could be reaching a little deeper into your pockets for your favorite cup of joe.

That's because of a major coffee price spike is happening across the globe, according to recent data from the Intercontinental Exchange.

The cost of coffee is up around two dollars a pound from last year. The owners at Abide Coffeehouse in Wilkes-Barre say they expect to see the effects in the coming weeks.

Bubbling brew can be heard throughout Abide Coffeehouse in downtown Wilkes-Barre.

DPW employees recognized for helping 7-year-old girl

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are investigating the firebombing of a state representative's office in Luzerne County.

A suspect was caught on security camera video around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night lighting what police are describing as a Molotov cocktail-like device and throwing it at the front of the office of PA State Representative Alec Ryncavage, (R) PA 119th District, on North Walnut Street.

Drug raid at residence leads to woman's arrest

NANTICOKE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a woman was arrested after an investigation into drug sales led to the raid of a Luzerne County home.

According to the Nanticoke City Police Department, multiple detective departments initiated an investigation into the sale of methamphetamine and fentanyl from an apartment in the 300 block of South Hanover Street in Nanticoke.

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)—Police say two people were arrested for a multi-state retail theft scheme after stealing over $9,000 worth of items from Home Depot and Target.

According to the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, on January 21 officers were called for two separate thefts at Home Depot totaling $4,248.21.

Restrictions on I-81 after tractor-trailer crash

LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — There are lane restrictions on Interstate 81 northbound beginning at mile marker 141 near Hazleton due to a tractor-trailer crash.

There is no word on when the road will reopen or if anyone was injured.

Mother charged after 2-year-old shoots her, police say
