Comedian Jeff Dunham returns to Wilkes-Barre Twp.

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Comedian Jeff Dunham will bring his "Artificial Intelligence Tour" to the Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza.

According to a press release, Dunham holds a local arena record for being the all-time best-selling individual artist with over 50,000 tickets sold at the Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza.

Police say a man stabbed another man, one shot fired

ASHLEY, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a man slashed a woman's tires and stabbed a man in the head, hands, and shoulders.

Authorities say on September 28, Douglas Lopez Gutierrez, 29, slashed the tires of a woman's car, making her and a man exit a home in Ashley, where Lopez Gutierrez then stabbed the man after an altercation.

Police say the victim then retrieved a short barrel rifle from his truck and fired a shot into the pavement on the driveway.

Lackawanna County to use ballot drop boxes in upcoming election

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — There's been a lot of attention lately on ballot drop boxes in northeastern Pennsylvania. Luzerne County won't have them out this election, but in Lackawanna County, the boxes are already set up in several locations Monday afternoon.

The decision to reinstate the ballot drop boxes was made last week by the county's board of elections.

Voters in Lackawanna County now have access to ballot drop boxes.

Victim identified after falling off roof in Hanover Twp.

HANOVER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man has been identified after investigators say he died falling off a roof in Hanover Township Friday.

According to the Luzerne County Coroner's Office, 41-year-old Anthony Santanna fell from the roof of a house under construction on Plymouth Avenue in Hanover Township on Friday, September 27.

Woman dies after Hazleton house fire

Santanna was pronounced dead on the scene.

The coroner's office later determined that the victim's death was due to multiple traumatic injuries.

Controversey continues with Luzerne County drop boxes

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The ballot drop box controversy continues to be talked about in Luzerne County.

On Monday, County Manager Romilda Crocamo said she stands by her decision to not deploy the boxes in November. Crocamo says it's all about the safety, security, and integrity of the election.

"I certainly appreciate receiving letters from outside attorneys. I receive them all the time. I've said it before, and I'm going to say it again. They really don't move me," said Crocamo.

Woman dies after Hazleton house fire

HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Lehigh County coroner states a woman has died from injuries she sustained during a house fire in Hazleton.

According to Coroner Daniel Buglio, on Sunday, September 29, Lisa Thompson, 59, from Hazleton died of smoke inhalation at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

Details on shooting, father charged with killing son

The fire occurred in the 600 block of Peace Street in Hazleton on September 15 around 6:30 a.m.

Lane restriction near Sheetz on Route 309

KINGSTON TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — PennDOT announced a lane restriction will be placed on Route 309 near Sheetz on Monday and Tuesday.

According to PennDOT, there will be lane restrictions on Route 309 near Sheetz in Kingston Township on September 30 and October 1.

Lane restriction coming to Interstate-81 South in Lackawanna County

The lane restriction will be between Sheetz and Carverton and Church Street intersection from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to install traffic signal heads and mast arms.

VFW holds 2nd Craft and Vendor event in Kingston

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A craft fair brought together some unique vendors in Luzerne County.

Kingston VFW Post 283 held its second Craft and Vendor Event on Sunday.

20 vendors were on hand with everything from decorative wreaths to candles and lamps.

Model trains chug along at Hawley Fire Department 46th Bi-Annual Model Train Show

All sales from tables, raffle baskets, and food and bar profits went toward helping the VFW with day-to-day expenses.

It allows the organization to stay open for veterans and social members to enjoy.

Raising awareness at Wrongful Conviction Rally in Wilke-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two organizations are joining forces to help make a difference for a group of people who are often forgotten.

They got together Sunday afternoon outside the Luzerne County Courthouse to call for justice for the wrongfully convicted.

They rolled into Wilkes-Barre Sunday afternoon looking to raise much-needed awareness to help right a wrong.

Pennsylvania Bikers for Justice partnered with the Bronx, New York-based Jeffrey Deskovic Foundation for Justice to hold a Wrongful Conviction Rally.
